Everybody's Mom
Hello my name is Georgia and I've got a thought or two on growing up, for kids and the rest of us (we are all still kids, some of us just try to hide it.)
Stay tuned for more of my thoughts and observations on parenting and culture/anthropology in general.

Mom's are supposed to do guilt, right? We make it , we impose it, we ride it.
I just got a birthday card from my son. I was a lovely card and sent the best expressions. He and his wife included in the package three beautiful framed pictures of their one year old daughter, the light of of our lives. And, a $100.00 check, itemized, "A trip to see the Baby".
Although I already had a trip booked for Christmas, I booked another for just before Thanksgiving. I do have dreams of getting sloppy, lovey kisses and all the rest, but, I would like to know what anyone thinks about the guilt factor here.
Has my son beaten me to the punch?
Should I be glad he has?
I'm going anyway. geo
Having just returned from a trip longer than expected, I found I had done a couple of things that turned out to make life easier.
One, I had a lb. of grd beef (ok. it could be turkey, but if it is, put some Worchestshire sauce in it so it tastes like something!).
Just before we left, I had gotten one of the things I know I will burn in hell for. The expensive little packs of chopped onions. Well, I knew that wouldn't live, so threw it in the freezer with the ground (whatever) meat. Surprise, surprise, those little onion pieces survived perfectly in the freezer,so we could have a little spaghetti dinner - or it could hae been chili, whatever, without having to go to the store or out again.
I may be the only person who likes to eat at home after a few days on the road, but, I doubt it.
But, put these items in the microwave (I know you have one) on defrost - not on cook. All microwaves these days have this setting, and if you put it on cook, it will! It will kill your dinner. Set it on defrost as instructed and you will have ingredients you can actually cook with.
Even if you have been on a cruise, isn't a simple meal at home a treat once you get home?
I'm ready to be stoned on this, but it is, after all, just a tip. geo
