Summer Science for Children 5 - 9

We have confirmed the following 2009 Summer Programme PM activities for ages 5 – 9!!

“Tabletop Science”

Description: In this programme students will conduct short inquiry-based science experiments that will help them explore scientific concepts. These experiments will focus on physics, astronomy, chemistry and the application of concepts found in these disciplines. These activities will focus on active learning where progress is assessed by how well students develop experimental and analytical skills.

Weekly Topics

? Discovering the Electromagnetic wave
? Electricity: Make a charge Detector
? Bernoulli: Getting to know Bernoulli, and using these concepts to create effective Paper Airplanes
? Astronomy: Creating craters and determining the relationship between distance and size of crater.
? Reflection and Refraction: Laser Activity

The Programmes run weekly, 12.30 – 3.30pm. The AM Programme (French, German, Spanish and possibly Russian) is proceeding as previously announced; Extended Care is also available.
