5 Fun-Filled Days of Capoeira Movement, Music, and Brazilian Portuguese, Dance, and Culture

Location: Capoeira Mandinga Tucson Academy, 605 E. 6th St.

Counselors:

Anne Pollack (camp director; Luar do Sertão) has trained capoeira for 21 years and taught capoeira to kids and adults for 11 years. She has a PhD in Anatomy.

David Vick (Feiticeiro) has trained capoeira for 4 years. He has taught capoeira to kids at the UofA A-Camp and has taught theatre to kids through the Tucson Unified School District.

Activities:

1. Each child will receive at least two 1-hour lessons every day as follows:

a. One session will be in capoeira movement. Kids will be separated by age and/or level.

b. A second session will be either capoeira or Brazilian dance (ie. Maculêlê, Samba) or

fitness, flexibility, and strengthening.

c. Additional training will be given in capoeira roda etiquette and playing.

2. Capoeira music (songs and instruments)

3. Arts and Crafts and/or instrument making

4. Brazilian Portuguese class combined with lunch (please bring sack lunch)

5. 5 hours of FUN, FUN, FUN each day!!!!!!!

Plus, each child will go home with a scrap book/photo album of the week!!

Cost*:

$160 for 1 session

$290 for both (2) sessions
