Chinese Pre-School Class Slated for January 2010
We are excited to announce that we are close to opening a Pre-School Chinese immersion class for Semester II of this current school year!!
Six students needed to open the class.
Eight students maximum.
Full-time enrolment only will be accepted.
Students must be aged 2.10 – 3.10 years on entry only.
The teacher is a native-speaker, trained and qualified as an elementary teacher in Taiwan, who has just completed a language-teaching methods programme here in the US.
We are not guaranteeing that the class will continue in the new school year (from August 2010), although we will make every effort for this to occur.
Please contact the School as soon as possible for more information, or for a prospective parent meeting with the Head of School.
Beyond Parties has teamed up with Kids Crooked Houses!
If you're looking to create a unique party for your child's next birthday, then look no further than Tucson’s own Beyond Parties. The company offers themed parties for kids ages one to sixteen, with an upscale – flair that delights. Owners Laurel Landroche and her daughters handle all of the details for a stress-free event.
The Big News is, Beyond Parties is representing the Whimsical Kid's Crooked Houses in Tucson and Phoenix.
Children's imaginations are running wild in the Kids Crooked Houses that are springing up all over the place, and the kids themselves are getting lots more exercise. Wonderful fantasy worlds are being constructed (cooperatively, of course) during great, rumbling creative bursts of energy and lots of kids are making their own dreams come true.
Southern Arizona Gifted Advocacy
Gifted children are concerned with the world around them. Many possess an unexpectedly sophisticated sense of self. Some are overwhelmed, even intimidated, by the breadth of their gifts — acting out their frustration; retreating into their heads.
If you are the parent of a gifted child, or a teacher working with gifted children, you’ll be all too familiar with the challenge.
Join us monthly as we address the challenges of Gifted. Share your experiences! Gain valuable insights.
Tucson Gifted Children and their Parents
The International School of Tucson is considering hosting workshops and other events for gifted children and/or the parents of gifted children this semester. The sessions will probably be hosted by Ms Elisabeth Ringlee, currently the Executive Director of the Arizona Association of Independent Schools and the former Director of the Gateways School, Tucson’s only school specifically for gifted children. Dates, times and activities are still to be finalized, however we are interested in hearing from anyone who would like more information.

Two-Language Program Produces Results
Dual Immersion students outperform English-only counterparts
Test results show that students enrolled in Blaine County School District's two-language program outperform their counterparts in English-only classes. Recently released test results show that both Hispanic and non-Hispanic students in the district's Dual Immersion program continue to become more proficient at reading and math the longer they are enrolled in the program. http://mtexpress.com/index2.php?ID=2005123302
